Responsibilities:
PRIMARY PURPOSE Primarily performs OB/GYN sonographic procedures on high risk obstetric patients.
Ensures quality standards are met and promotes continuous quality improvement.
Maintains current knowledge of sonographic technology and equipment, as applicable.
Demonstrates excellent communication and customer service skills.
Acts as a knowledge resource for students, technologists, and others.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Ultrasound procedures (60%) Performs abdominal and transvaginal OB/Gyn sonographic procedures according to department standard in a timely and efficient manner Produces examinations that meet image quality standards in accordance to department protocols.
Submits images for physician interpretation Record documentation (15%) Verifies accuracy of patient demographic information, pertinent clinical diagnosis, and required technical results Data must be entered accurately and in a timely fashion to provide optimal patient care.
Verifies all technical data entry components are complete prior to the end of shift Assist provider and practice (10%) Assists physician with in office procedures related to obstetric care, including but not exclusive to, amniocentesis and chorionic villi sampling Able to assist physician with fetal echo studies.
Actively participates in a multidisciplinary approach to patient care Works closely with nurses and physicians to achieve positive outcomes and optimal patient flow Office duties (10%) Monitors stock of supplies in imagining rooms to assure their regular availability by timely reordering, rotation of dated items, and by maintenance of a clean and orderly environment Reports incidences of equipment failure and actively supports organizational changes Adheres to institutional safety procedures as described in the institutional safety program Performs job functions while modeling service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to patients, families, co-workers and others Patient education (5%) Provides patient education in the form of written material and/or verbal explanation prior to, during and subsequent to the procedure in order to reduce the patient's anxiety and enhance comfort zone with respect to tolerance of the procedure
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED License / Registration / Certification American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification is mandatory RDMS (AB, OB) required Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification required and must be renewed every two years Maintains, or obtains (within 3 months of hire), active Nuchal Translucency License while employed Issued by (Governing Body) American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) RDMS (AB, OB) Level of Education Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography Field of Study Diagnostic Medical Sonography Years of Experience 4 years Describe Type of Experience 3 years general ultrasound experience with an additional 1-3 years MFM sonography experience required INDHP.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
