Preschool Classroom Aide (SARC)

AM/PM Preschool Class Aide
Monday-Thursday 8:00am ? 3:30pm; Friday 8:00-11:45am (up to 33.75 hrs/wk; August - May)
Hourly: $12.50-$14.50 (part-time)
Opportunity for additional hours outside of class times
There are no benefits (medical/insurance or paid time off) offered with this position
Associate's Degree in Child Development/Early Childhood Education (Preferred, Not Required)
Certification in First Aid and CPR is required (Provided if not current)
Cooperate in the planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate experience for children
based upon both individual child and group needs
Provide a safe and supervised environment for each child in the program
Maintain daily attendance records and parent sign in and out sheets
Dismiss each child to a parent or approved guardian
In cooperation with the Lead Teacher, contribute to family communication through a monthly calendar and
other communications as needed. ie: phone calls, field trip notes, etc.
In cooperation with the Lead Teacher, maintain classroom bulletin boards
In cooperation with the Lead Teacher, distribute notes, newsletter, etc. to parents
Keep current with professional issues and research
Attend bi-monthly staff meetings and other meetings as required/scheduled
Recommend the purchase of needed educational materials and other supplies
Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher
Provide a safe environment for children
Maintain equipment and facilities in a safe and tidy manner
Follow all policies and procedures as stated in Park District Policy manual
Keep program area clean
File accident report in emergency situation
Use positive behavior guidance techniques
Maintain the confidentiality of children, families, and staff
Maintain open lines of communication with volunteer staff
Must be able to follow directions given by the Lead Teacher
Must have good judgment in decision making
Be able to stand for a long period of time
Be able to sit on the floor with children as needed

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
