Front Desk Attendent - Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center

SUMMARY: The Part ?Time Front Desk Attendant is responsible for assisting in the orderly operation of the front office.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions:
1. Greet all visitors to the Park District and direct them to appropriate personnel for appointments and inquiries.
2. Receive and route incoming telephone calls to the appropriate person and answer inquiries.
3. Prepare and process mail and packages for mailing.
4. Operate computer to prepare agency information.
5. Inform program participants of class cancellations or changes.
6. Maintain accurate registration files and records.
7. Operate various office machines as needed.
8. Perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the District's safety program
Marginal Functions:
1. Maintain an orderly/professional atmosphere in front office.
2. Immediately report any possible safety concern or dangerous situation to Supervisor.
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Adhere to safety rules, regulations and procedures established by the loss control program.
2. Promptly report to supervisor all unsafe actions, practices or conditions observed.
3. Promptly report all accidents to supervisor.
PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
1. Must be able to work around co-workers and visitors to the office.
2. Must be able to handle stressful situations with both paperwork and the public.
PHSYIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
1. Prolonged hours seated at a desk.
2. Prolonged hours or computer use (carpal tunnel syndrome, vision).
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Worker performs most activities indoors. Indoor environmental conditions will include lighting and temperature changes.
COGNITIVE CONSIDERATIONS:
Worker must be able to follow directions and perform work activities as described.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 18 years of age or older. Knowledge/skill in computer data input. Knowledge of modern office procedures, practices and equipment: and possess clerical aptitude. Ability to be flexible and a good self starter. Ability to meet the public courteously, obtain information and give understandable explanations of procedures and regulations. Good communication skills and written form.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience in general office work is preferred.
HOURS/PAY SCALE:
Must be available year round. This is NOT a seasonal position. Availability on weekends is required.
Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm
Monday through Friday 4:30 p.m. ? 10 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday, 7a.m. ? 7 p.m.



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
